I considered these the best, or they have a story to tell, from shooting locally in Northern Malaysia for the first half of 2012

ASouthern Fur seal was chasing fish (Blue Cod) off the Kaikoura coast and here a fish on the left desperately tries to escape the set of sharp teeth. On the left of the image is a Salvin's albatross that seems to be waiting to cash in on the hunting activities. A split second later the seal lunged after the fish and the albatross had to take rapid evasive action.

Several weeks after the Chestnut-headed Bee-eaters mated the female was ready to lay her eggs. The males were very attentive at this time and brought their partners insect gifts to augment the energy demands of egg-laying.

At least one pair of Lesser Coucals patrolled the trees around the periphery of the bee-eater nesting ground. They are large birds who forage for lizards etc, mainly on the ground.

Stork-billed Kingfishers have been a major target of mine for some years. I came across one of a nicely located perch on the edge of an estuary at Byram, Penang State.

I have had sessions with three species of Bee-eater in these months. Two species nest in the same location but the Blue-tailed Bee-eaters nest further north and forage in the same area along the coast as the Northern migrants. Here a Blue-tailed Bee-eater them tosses a dragonfly.
