Two Smooth-coated Otters in a stream that has vegetation reflected on the smooth surface.
This Chestnut-headed Bee-eater was supplying a nearby nest and was waiting for his chance to deliver in a crowded landing schedule.
At Byram there are a number of Collared Kingfishers. This species like to sit on perches above the muddy banks of estuaries at low tide and catch crabs.
A Great Tit adult
Great Hornbills are not commonly seen but perhaps more often heard. They have a very noisy flight. The male came in roughly every half hour to feed this nest that contains the incarcerated female and her brood. The mud used to seal the female in has a different brown color. Langkawi island, Kedah.
The numbers of Blue-throated Bee-eaters in the nesting ground makes for some crowded perches and sometimes territorial disputes occur.
A family of Smooth-coated Otters in a small stream near Byram. The otters wanted to cross a small road into another creek and were checking the environment.....in most directions. There were at least two more in the family and were very entertaining. They are near to a community marking patch where they all go and mark the ground.......in a bonding routine.
Chestnut-headed bee-eaters were rather coy with public mating but not so with the Blue-throated Bee-eaters. A gift of an insect often was enough to induce the female to assume the 'mount' position.
The pair of White-throated Kingfishers together......and still talking.
